Origin of Fishrush

The formative Years

The word "fishrush" was created by combining two four letter words -- fish and rush.

We were instrumental in the creation of the International Bloggers Union and serve on the executive committee that has undertaken the bulk of officiating duties for the coveted and esteemed 5-fish blog award.

The idea behind the site originated while playing shuffleboard on a shuffleboard court that none of us were familiar with. The court was close to the water and after a close shuffle, we began to debate one particular aspect of the rules. There were fish in the water and the pier nearby was rusty for some reason. There were iron bolts surrounding the pilings that appeared to have no purpose for being there - except as the source of the rust. A child was feeding the fish near the pier with breadcrumbs. The fish were an orange and brown color that resembled the rusted bolts on the pier. One of the guys said 'fish rust!, what a great name for a rock band or a web site'. So the website - fishrust.com was born. Immediately one of the guys in the group began using fishrust as a chat nickname. He informed us that he received a funny inquiry from someone with a care2.com email address. Whoa. Wait a minute. The last people in the world you want to offend are the fish people. These are the same people that get between the whales and the harpooners. So, we decided to rename the site - fishrush.

Is Fishrush a Blog or a Journal?

From time to time a blog entry is produced. Because blog tools are changed so frequently, much of the content in the blog is lost. What's a blog? Some notice how easy it is to interchange the word "blog" for "Dada" and rewrite Tristan Tzara's 1918 Dada Manifesto. We are relatively certain that this may be a good indication that many contemporary definitions of blogging approximate what some might term "social constructions", a phonema that might lead to postbloggerism.

The Essential Core

Please understand that this web site and everything contained herein is nothing more than bird dirt on the sidewalk, twaddle, bilgewater, tarradiddle, tommyrot, tosh, and prated tittle-tattle.
